In 2006, we established a beauty salon in Freetown-Sierra Leone, providing an opportunity for former prostitutes to learn hairdressing skills, improve on their self-image, and generate a dignified income.
In the past year, however, this project has been faced with the challenge of not being able to continue paying rent---hence loosing these ladies back to the streets. We are urgently in need of financial assistance to keep this project going.

In 2006, we collaborated with a group of students from Colby College in Waterville-Maine (USA), headed by David Amadu, to create “The Sierra Leone Aid Project”. The project was intended to be a one-time effort to help alleviate the incidence of malaria in Southern and Eastern Sierra Leone, by treating current cases, distributing preventative bed nets, and teaching measures by which the local people can fight malaria in the long term. They distributed 2000 bed nets in Bo and Kenema districts, volunteered at schools, orphanages, and polio homes. As it turned out, the trip was quite a success; and plans are underway to head back to Sierra Leone this summer.

Our Tailoring shop established in Kenema-Eastern Sierra Leone, to train young people in dress making.

In collaboration with our partner organization, Defense for Children International-Sierra Leone, two computer schools have been set up in Makeni (Northern Sierra Leone) and Kenema (Eastern Sierra Leone) to provide children and youth with free basic computer skills training.

“Bikes for Sierra Leone”
Our “Bikes for Sierra Leone” project is intended to help provide mobility for school-going children in Sierra Leone, who would otherwise have to walk for miles in the rain or blazing sun to and from school. Our maiden shipment was in summer of 2006.
